Time is the most valuable resource for travellers and too much of it is squandered queueing for the same old tourist traps.

But locals never queue. 

We show how travel site Exceptional Alien challenges the status queue of travel by helping travellers become detourists, with 'alternative routes' from local curators of culture. 

Across three executions, we applied for World Heritage listing for the queue at the Colosseum, built an app that detects queue length at famous landmarks and suggests alternative routes, and put billboards outside over-exposed ‘blandmarks’ encouraging the curious to see more of the ‘real’ world.
